There’s no doubt about it, legal cannabis is a job creator.
According to the latest Annual Update from the Colorado Department of Revenue, there were 15,992 people employed in the legal cannabis industry as of December 2014 and over 9,000 of those jobs were created after the beginning of recreational sales in January of 2014. Meaning recreational cannabis has more than doubled the amount of jobs available in the Colorado cannabis industry in less than a year. A notable achievement considering that more than 70% of Colorado’s jurisdictions do not allow the sale of cannabis.
In addition to creating over 9,000 jobs, the legal Colorado cannabis industry sold 148,000 pounds of marijuana and 4.8 million edible products.
That’s a lot of jobs and a lot of bud.
