At THC Insider we try to keep our finger on the pulse of the industry the best we can, and it is clearly no secret that concentrates have become a main focus. One of the things we’re trying to incorporate into our website is a regular concentrate review article. We’ve already done a few reviews on some great companies, but this week we got the chance to try out one of the 2016 So Cal Cannabis Cup winners. After trying out the product, I had to reach out to Quality Concentrates, the company behind it, to learn more about their story and operations.
I was very pleased to be welcomed with warm arms by the staff of Quality Concentrates, to let me come in and actually tour their new facilities in LA. I had first tried a dab of their product at the High Times Cup in So Cal this year. I tried some of their XJ-13 which was fantastic, but little did I know at the time, that the very same strain would be taking home a second place finish that night at the Cannabis Cup award show. I had to know more about this company and after getting the tour I felt like I really got a good feel for the place. This company stands out because of their incredible attention to detail. They control their product all the way from seed to sale. This means that all of the cannabis used in their concentrates was grown and harvested by them. Having that much control over your product results in the ability to really fine tune the procedure.
Each gram comes with a scan code to find the full sample profile as well.
As for the product itself, their signature sativa dominant strain, XJ-13, is a cross of Jack Herer and G13 Haze. It is impressively potent with a THC percentage of nearly 85%. How do I know that you may ask? Well Quality Concentrates goes the extra step to lab test every batch of oil they make using SC Labs. Each gram comes with a scan code to find the full sample profile as well. This is incredibly forthright of them considering in So Cal they have no obligation to do this. It has very low CBD, but is pretty much perfect for a daytime dab. The high doesn’t put you to sleep, but is still quite powerful. It definitely has a citrus like flavor to it. Mainly hints of lemon seem to be the strongest in my batch.
The packaging doesn’t just include the SC Labs results, but comes in a very elegantly packaged box.
All of Quality Concentrates products are made in a closed loop hydrocarbon extraction machine, purged in high end vacuum ovens, and checked for quality. The packaging doesn’t just include the SC Labs results, but comes in a very elegantly packaged box. It almost looks as if you’re buying a piece of jewelry it is so fancy looking. I’ve been in their packaging facility and trust me when I say that no corners are cut when creating their package presentation.
With a friendly and knowledgeable staff that is more focused on creating a precedent for candidness and high standards, than making a quick buck. Quality Concentrates is the kind of company we want in charge of making our medicine.
