Every stoner knows that there are plenty of side effects from partaking in cannabis products. One of the most notorious of all the side effects has to be the insatiable hunger we get while high called the munchies. Most of us have at least a few experiences searching through the kitchen trying to find a way to make a dish out of every single ingredient available. While sometimes it can be fun to play chef MacGyver, it’s usually best to leave the cooking up to someone else. Lots of restaurants seem to be catering directly to stoners with their crazy greasy concoctions, but one shop has taken it to another level by truly incorporating cannabis culture into their restaurant and food. Cheba Hut is a smoker’s dream come true and the original cannabis sandwich shop.
Cheba Hut has been around for quite a while now. It was originally opened in 1998 by founder Scott Jennings. Jennings’ goal was to harmonize the cannabis counterculture with delicious food. The result is an awesome sandwich shop that has delicious cleverly named food with a great atmosphere. Cheba Hut has over 30 signature sandwiches that range between mid grade subs and top shelf subs. The sandwiches have names like White Widow, Silver Haze and AK 47. The sandwiches also come in three different sizes. The 4 inch is called a nug, the 8 inch is called a pinner and the 12 inch is called a blunt. These are just a few of the many cannabis references at Cheba Hut locations. The menu also features a munchies section with tasty options like rice crispy treats and brownies (unfortunately non medicated). The cotton mouth cures portion of the menu obviously lists their drinks. Most locations also offer craft beer bars that feature local beers from nearby breweries.
The atmosphere of Cheba Hut is one of the biggest draws. Everyone is very nice and the music is on point. Not to mention the sandwiches are so delicious that I like to eat there when I’m stone cold sober just as much as when I’ve got the monster munchies. Cheba Hut is a franchise, but they are currently only located in 6 states. Hopefully that will change soon as more states are starting to embrace cannabis culture. One of the best parts of Cheba Hut is that they will deliver in case you’re too medicated to travel. If you can make it off the couch and over to the Cheba Hut nearest you, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed by this unique and relaxed dining experience.
